Meeting with local police & local councillor - Friday 27th November 2020

On Friday 27th November 2020, a zoom meeting was held between Arleston Neighbourhood Watch, two local police officers and local councillor, Angela McClements.

We were thanked by the police and Angela for all our hard work since August. We advised that we have enjoyed working with our local community, the police and our local councillor.
We would like to thank everyone who has become an official member of the scheme and welcome any new members to join us.

The police have asked us to remind residents to call 101 when witnessing a crime.

Please do not contact an officer via their mobile phone or via email to report a crime.

In every instance of witnessing a crime, please call 101. If you call and you are placed in a queue, please continue to wait. If you are unable to continue waiting in a queue, please ensure that you that you report the crime later that day by calling 101. Alternatively, please report via the link below

https://www.westmercia.police.uk/

The police would rather you did call 101 as the call will be answered by a trained call handler who will be able to ask you appropriate questions. Any calls reported to 101 will then be sent to our local police team to act upon accordingly.

When reporting a crime via the West Mercia Police website, you will be asked to provide various details. Once the report has been submitted, you will be provided with an incident reference number.

Flytipping & Trespassing

We raised concerns on behalf of residents about the gentleman who has been trespassing on people's property & taking items that do not belong to him.

Both the police and our local councillor are fully aware that this has become a problem again. The police have asked us to reiterate, to call 101 if you witness the man trespassing or taking items that he shouldn't have taken. Please ensure you confirm the date and time of when you saw him. Also please confirm the location as to where you witnessed the crime.

We are all aware that this man and his actions are causing concerns within the community. The appropriate authorities are involved and hopefully appropriate action will be taken to put a stop to this behaviour.

Thank you

Anti social behaviour

We were asked if the community have any concerns at present? We obviously discussed the gentleman who is causing problems within the community at great length. We also mentioned that there is a general concern that anti social behaviour is on the increase again.

The police advised that since the scheme was launched in August 2020, instances of ASB have decreased dramatically. If you become aware of any instances of ASB, please report them to the police by calling 101. If they are not aware of instances of ASB, all will appear to be fine when it isn't. So please report what you see.

The police advised that they continue to work with parents & external agencies in tackling anti social behaviour.

Confidentiality

Please do not post any personal information on social media about anyone who may be involved in any crime. That includes their name or address. Any posts that mention someone's name or address, will be removed. We would also advise that you do not post any photos of anyone who lives in the community. Please respect people's privacy.
