Update about car sales on Hayes Road

Update on car sales on Hayes Road

We have received another complaint this afternoon about the car salesman who is selling cars on Hayes Road.

This afternoon, he has parked a car that has been test driven by a family in a disabled space.

The activities of this gentleman were questioned some time ago with Telford & Wrekin Council

Please see the Council's response below:

We understand the resident is selling vehicles on social media while parking some of these vehicles on Hayes Road.

We will continue to patrol the area so we can identify vehicles which are currently parked on the highway and advertised for sale on Facebook.

Joint working between Telford & Wrekin Council and West Mercia Police will continue to remove cars which are not insured and therefore are not legally allowed on the highway.

For us to fine the resident for selling vehicles on the highway there must be two or more vehicles on the highway parked within 500 metres of each other with a sign on the vehicle advertising it is for sale.

When we visited the area recently, we could only identify one vehicle which is for sale online with no signage on the vehicle and parked on the highway.

We are actively monitoring the area but realistically we cannot do anymore at this moment in time.

We have also noticed many residents do not have a dropped kerb near their driveways which means the public can park outside their properties until the resident legally installs a dropped kerb.
