Fed up with the amount of litter around Arleston?


Fed up with the amount of litter spoiling Arleston? 

Feel you can't pick it up faster than the Litterbugs can drop it?

Then why not join others in the Community by looking after your local area and becoming a Telford Street Champion. You'll get a free litterpicker, heavy duty gloves and a high viz  jacket from the Council as a Volunteer Street Champion.


One local resident, Paul Kalinauckas, joined the Telford Strret Champions earlier this year and he's dedicated to keeping Limekiln Lane and nearby roads clear of litter. Paul said "I did it because I got fed up with the amount of litter I saw everyday whilst out walking my dog.  I had to keep stopping her eating left over takeaways and walking through broken glass.

It's been a great way of meeting more of my neighbours as well who are really appreciative of my efforts. There are several Street Champions in Arleston and we sometimes get together to blitz an area. We aren't the only ones who pick up litter of course as many local residents take pride in keeping their own street clean and tidy.

We thought we would launch our very own competition to find Arleston's "Best Neighbour 2021" to coincide with "Neighbourhood Watch Week" We launched the competition via our social media channels and asked for residents to send in their nominations to us via our Facebook page. Meet our local councillor - Angela McClements

Hello Arleston Neighbourhood Scheme Members.   I thought I would introduce myself to you as the Borough Councillor for Arleston Ward.  I am proud of my Arleston roots and strongly believe in community pride and ensuring that the community work together on issues that are important to them.  Since being elected in 2007 I have worked hard across the ward, holding regular weekly surgeries at the Community Centre and have taken up hundreds of local issues right across Arleston.   I am delighted that a Neighbourhood Watch Group has been set up in Arleston recently and look forward to working alongside the Group and the local Arleston Police Team in tackling the issues that residents are concerned about.  I know that there are many residents who are concerned about anti-social behaviour and want to live in a strong, safe and friendly community.  That’s why a Neighbourhood Watch Group is important to reduce the fear of crime, improving home security an...
