Together, we can make a difference
Help us to make a difference within Arleston
Take a look at the photo below and see how a community in the West Midlands has come together to make a difference. In just two screenshots, you can see how their community has come together to make positive changes.
This is what we would like to achieve as a "Neighbourhood Watch Scheme". People coming together to help us prevent crime and a community that wants to make a difference to the area in which we live.
Since August last year, as a scheme we have achieved quite a bit with the help of our local councillor, the council and our local officers. We would like to achieve more though and feel that more can be achieved, if our community comes together to help us.
This is something that we have always wanted to achieve as a scheme. We are only going to achieve it, if we all work together and not against one another. Since August 2020, we have tried to bring people together. We have tried to arrange a big lunch for the forthcoming "Neighbourhood Watch Week", but there was very little interest. We thought it would be a great way for members of our community to come together and get to know one another. Due to a lack of interest, we have had to cancel that part of "Neighbourhood Watch Week".
We have also tried to raise interest in community litter picking too due to number of messages that we receive about people throwing their rubbish on the ground or instances of flytipping. Unfortunately, only a handful of volunteers have come forward in the past. This is a great shame as we know residents want to live in a cleaner environment, but it seems that only a selected few want to do something positive about it.
It would be great to have our own team of dedicated street champions who volunteer one hour or two a week to go around our community picking up litter. Also, reporting any environmental issues to Telford & Wrekin Council. If you would like to become an "Arleston Street Champion" on behalf of our neighbourhood watch scheme, please get in touch with us to register your interest.
We would also like to try to reduce anti social behaviour on our streets. If you have any suggestions on any free activities that could be arranged for children of all ages, please let us know.
We have mentioned on here that there is a field with goal posts in Festival Gardens that is used very rarely. We would love to see this being used by more children especially children who like to play football. If anyone would like to consider setting up football team or coaching sessions to be held on this field, please let us know. We would be more than happy to advertise for you across our social media channels.
We would also like to recruit more volunteers to help us with our scheme. This Facebook Group alone has over 400 members in it. We have a following of over 400 following us on our Facebook page too. Imagine the difference we could make, if more people came forward to help our community instead of just moaning about issues!!
We want to share more positive stories with our followers across social media and with our scheme members. With more help from our community, we can turn this all around and make a real difference. Let's see more action taking place than just words on social media posts.

We hope by 5th June 2021 which is the start of "Neighbourhood Watch Week", we will be able to share some positive news of how we will come together to make a difference as a community in the future.
Thank you for reading. We look forward to hearing from you 😊
