Your concerns - May 2021
Our recent survey
We published a new survey on Wednesday 5th May 2021 in the lead up to our first "Neighbourhood Watch Week" which will take place in June 2021.
The national Neighbourhood Watch scheme shared some questions that could be used for a residents survey. We thought each question was very appropriate to ask residents of our community. Therefore, we put the survey together and posted the link out to residents who follow us on social media. We also notified scheme members too via email.
During the first day that the survey was published, we received a few replies. A number of residents shared their concerns about issues within Arleston. We were aware of most of the issues that had been raised but wanted to find out if there were any other issues that we hadn't been made aware about.
On Thursday 6th May 2021, we notified all residents who follow us and who are registered on the scheme that it was important that they complete the survey. We want to do all that we can as a neighbourhood watch scheme to ensure that our community is a safe place to live. We were pleased that a few more surveys were completed.
It became apparent that there was a re-occuring theme of issues that residents have been concerned about. Anti social behaviour, speeding, drug taking, drug dealing were just a few types of crime that residents listed as concerns.
We also became aware that a number of parents/guardians were very concerned about the safety of their child/children. We were very saddened to hear that local residents felt that their child/children were not safe on our local streets. They also felt that they are not safe in local parks too. We do not want any residents to feel unsafe within our community. Therefore, we will continue to work with the Police and other 3rd parties in addressing residents issues. We will endeavour to seek a resolution to these issues.
Reporting crime
In respect of reporting crime, some residents have advised that they are worried about reporting instances of crime to the Police. If instances of crime go unreported, the police will not be aware of crimes that are happening within our area. We understand that some residents will want to remain anonymous when reporting crimes or suspicious activities.
Please report any instances that you may witness to 101. When you get through to a call handler, please let them know that you would like to remain anonymous. You are not obliged to give any personal details. You may also consider reporting what you have seen via crimestoppers. You can file a report with crimestoppers online. Any information submitted to crimestoppers will be forwarded to the Police.
You may hold vital information that may help the police to identify a criminal(s). So please provide as much information as you can when reporting a crime/suspicious activity. Make a note of the following:
Date & time of when the incident took place
Where it took place
How many people were involved?
What did they look like?
What were they wearing?
What did you see?
Which direction did they travel in?
Did you see them using a motor vehicle? If so, what was the make, model & vehicle registration
We can all do our bit to help reduce crime within our area. We will continue to work with the police and 3rd parties in addressing concerns about crime on behalf of residents.

We have been made aware by some of the responses to our survey that some residents would like to remain anonymous in reporting information. Please consider sending us an email using an email address that doesn't contain your personal name.
We would rather residents feel that they can approach us with their concerns using an alias email address, if they do have concerns about reporting instances of crime or suspicious activity.
