Welcome
Welcome to July's edition of our newsletter!
We trust that you are all keeping well.
Some good news
We recently met with Sgt Matt Hartley & PC Pete Rigby
Sgt Matt Hartley
PC Pete Rigby
Both have over 20 years of experience in policing, which is a benefit for Arleston & College.
Sgt Matt Hartley said that we will see more of a police presence on our streets which we know will be welcomed by our community.
Our local officers will be working very closely with the council and ourselves to ensure that Arleston is a safe place to live.
Both reiterated that it is really important that any crimes or suspicious activities are reported to the Police by calling 101 or by reporting online via www.westmercia.police.uk
Alternatively, call crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or report online via www.crimestoppers-uk.org
Sgt Matt Hartley advised that even the police do not know who reports any information to Crimestoppers as it is completely 100% anonymous.
So please help us and the police by reporting any issues that you become aware of. Please do not assume that someone may have already reported it. The police would rather have duplicate reports than none received at all.
If crime or suspicious activities are unreported, the police will not be aware that there is a problem in our area.
We look forward to working with both Sgt Matt Hartley & PC Pete Rigby and their colleagues in the future.
Neighbourhood Matters
We are pleased to share some news on behalf of our local officers.
Neighbourhood Matters will be launching on 1st July 2021.
If you want to find out what's happening in Arleston & College, then make sure you sign up to this new messaging service.
Register your details and find out how the service works by visiting
https://www.neighbourhoodmatters.co.uk/
Police Appeal
Can you help our local officers with an appeal for information or dashcam footage?
If you do have any dash cam footage of vehicles being driven dangerously in Arleston or Leegomery during 28th June 2021, please upload it via the link below
https://www.westmercia.police.uk//police-forces/west-mercia-police/areas/west-mercia/campaigns/campaigns/2019/operation-snap/
We would encourage anyone who uses a dashcam to review the footage captured on a regular basis and submit any instances of digital footage of traffic offences via a secure online form.
We know that quite a few residents are concerned about speeding within Arleston. If you have any dashcam footage of someone driving over the speed limit or who has been driving dangerously, please submit the footage as soon as possible.
Your submission will be sent to West Mercia Police where the evidence will be reviewed by one of their road traffic police officers.
Due to the large volume of submissions received each week, the police are unable to update each submitter regarding the outcome of their allegation. However, all submissions are dealt with pro-actively to help reduce risk taking and poor driving on our counties roads.
Make the right call
We have been made aware that there are some calls being made to 101 that aren’t a police matter.
With this in mind, could anyone who experiences a problem with their neighbour or has any other environmental issue, please report it to Telford & Wrekin Council either via their website or on the councils Everyday Telford app.
The police need to be made aware of any instances of crime or suspicious activity, so please report any information that you are aware of by calling 101 or report online via www.westmercia.police.uk. Alternatively, please call crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or report online via www.crimestoppers-uk.org
The police have advised that they cannot get involved with bullying at school. Their advice is for the parents/carers to liase with the school/college involved. Talk to their own children and if possible, the parents/carer of the other child/children involved.
By taking the right action, this will enable the police to spend more time on cases that are classified as a crime or suspicious activity.
Thank you for your co-operation & understanding
Recent crime stats
Please see below the crime stats for Arleston & College for May 2021
As you will see, violence and sexual offences remains one of the most commonly reported crimes in our area.
We will be providing sharing more information about the signs to look out for in domestic violence across our social media channels in July.

As mentioned above, it really is important to report crime as and when you become aware of it. The police would rather have duplicate reports of an incident or suspicious behaviour, than have no reports at all.
Reports can be made anonymously by calling the police on 101. Alternatively, please report via www.westmercia.police.uk
You can also report information via Crimestoppers too. Whichever channel you decide to use, the information will reach our local officers.

ASB Awareness Week
During 19th - 25th July 2021, we will be supporting Antisocial Behaviour Awareness Week.
Due to an increase in anti social behaviour during the summer holidays last year, we decided to set up our neighbourhood watch scheme.
Since then, we have helped fellow neighbours who have become victims of anti social behaviour. We have also worked with our local police and Angela McClements and our local council in raising and tackling issues of ASB.
This is a crime that we will continue to raise more awareness of as we know that residents of our community are still experiencing problems with ASB. Please keep an eye out across our social media channels for some advice on how to deal with anti social behaviour during ASB Awareness Week.
If you would like to share your story as a victim, or you have some advice that may help our fellow neighbours, please send us an email to register your interest. Our email address is arlestonneighbourhoodwatch@gmail.com
We look forward to hearing from you!
Arleston Neighbourhood Watch Summer Holidays Fun
During the summer holidays, we will be holding some activities that children of all ages can take part in!
We already have a few ideas amongst a team of volunteers who are happy to help!
If you have an idea of any low cost activities that we can provide during the holidays, please send us a message via our Facebook page. Alternatively, please send us an email to arlestonneighbourhoodwatch@gmail.com
It would be great to have more residents join our team!
Arleston Street Champions
Since our community litter picking event took place, a number of local residents have decided to become street champions!
We really do appreciate volunteers from our community in taking part. This gives up any spare time to collect rubbish from areas within our local community.
We have arranged two days during the school holidays where we hope to involve as many people as we can.
We would love to see as many volunteers take part as possible. Register your interest by sending us a message via our Facebook Page or send us an email to arlestonneighbourhoodwatch@gmail.com
Community Speed Monitoring Team
If you do have concerns about speeding vehicles being driven within our community, why not consider becoming a community speed watch volunteer?
Arleston Neighbourhood Watch would like to do something positive to help our community reduce instances of speeding.
If you would like to consider becoming a volunteer, please have a look through the leaflet below.
If anyone would like to apply for a role, we do have an application form that we can send to you via email to complete.
