Our News - 23rd July 2021

Due to a very busy week, we thought that we would put some useful information together for you all to read in the form of an article.

Drug use

We have been contacted by a number of residents who are concerned about drug dealing and drug use within our community.

We have raised some concerns with our local officers on behalf of some residents.

However, we would like to request that if you do have any information about drugs being dealt or taken within our community, please report directly to the police. Calls can be made by calling 101. Alternatively, please report online via www.westmercia.police.uk

You can report your concerns to Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111 or by reporting online via www.crimestoppers-uk.org

We know that the use of drugs is having an effect on our community, therefore it is really important that any information is reported to the police.

Noise Nuisance

As well as several reports of drug dealing/use in our community, we have also received multiple reports of dogs barking for long periods of time in several areas of Arleston.

Due to the amount of complaints that we have received, we have sought advice from an environment officer who works with Telford & Wrekin Council.

The advice that we have provided is as follows;

Dogs barking needs to be reported to Environmental Protection. Once it’s been reported the customer will be asked to record the noise on our Noise App or they can submit diary sheets.

For the team to take action against the alleged perpetrator they will need to prove that the noise is every day / having a detrimental effect on the neighbourhood and they will do this by using the evidence provided.

Once the customer reports the issue they will receive an acknowledgement letter and the person they’ve reported will receive a warning letter. Sometimes, after the warning letter the noise does stop or is reduced.

Diary Sheets can be downloaded from the link below

Concern for welfare, you would be best reporting the issue to RSPCA

Anti Social Behaviour

This week has been ASB Awareness Week.

On behalf of residents who have been victims of anti social behaviour, we have escalated concerns to an area manager of Wrekin Housing Group.

Anti social behaviour has been an ongoing issue in one street of our community and residents felt that their concerns were not being dealt with as a matter of priority.

We took the time to feedback on behalf of residents and we have received the response below;

Good Morning, thank you for your recent e-mail regarding your on-going concerns of anti-social behaviour.

 I would like to re-assure you that The group are taking the reports that have been received seriously, and we are continuing to work with other agencies to address the issues outlined.

 I can confirm that diary sheets have been sent to residents that have made formal complaints.

 I would encourage that any further ASB, is reported by the individuals that it is affecting to the same e-mail address.

 Kind regards

Karen Marshall

If anyone has any issues with anti social behaviour from any one who is a resident with Wrekin Housing Group, please send an email to ASBReports@wrekin.com

Suspicious activity

During the past week, we have been made aware of a man wondering the streets of Arleston late at night and throughout the early hours of the morning.

We have received several videos from CCTV from residents of which have been sent on to our local officers. If you know anything about this man or who he may be, please contact the Police by calling 101 or by reporting online via www.westmercia.police.uk

Telford Crisis Support

During the last few months, we have been providing support to several vulnerable residents who live within our community.

We would like to introduce you to Telford Crisis Support. Telford Crisis Support can provide a food parcel to those who are in need. For more information on how this can be arranged, please see the information that we have been sent below

Don't forget

We are due to meet with the deputy Police Crime Commissioner in August to seek funding for our neighbourhood watch scheme. We would also like to request more CCTV cameras to be located within hotshots within our community.

If you have any suggestions that we could approach Tracey Onslow about that may benefit our community, please send us a message via our Facebook page or send us an email to arlestonneighbourhoodwatch@gmail.com
